” Turn your New Year’s resolutions into Faith goals “

It’s a delightful 2019 for all of us and I know everyone is excited to see what’s going to happen this new year. It might be in the area of career, family, study, relationship and finances. We really want a good entire year once again, right?

And speaking of NEW, we also want changes, specially in our lives. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, it is good that we are aware of the things we need to improve on ourselves.

But, most of the time our “NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION” is just another thing to do because we always fail to do it, and achieving consistency is really hard. We thought that our new year’s resolution is always same as before, in short — no progress. But let me share to you things that will inspire you to hold onto your faith goals this 2019.

1. God hears our desire to be transformed
The main reason why we can’t fulfill what we have promised is that we are humans, and we will fail, but the good thing is He won’t. And the more we allow ourselves to be changed by the powerful God, we will realize that the only one that can change us is God.

2. He will fulfill He’s promise.
Yes, not all our faith goals will be answered. But if God says so, it will happen. That is because He is the promise giver and a promise fulfiller. Everything takes time, and everything He gives, is for our own good. Trust God’s will in your life and wait for it.

3. God is better than our own desires.
When you say faith goals, you fight for it through prayers. You bombard the heavens with prayers. Simply because what God really wants is not just simply giving us what we want, but He wants for us to be transformed and be the son/daughter He wants us to be as well. That whenever we are in His feet we may understood that it’s okay to suffer, to struggle and to not get what we like for He is teaching us and changing us more than what we only think, He wants us to see that He is better than life.

In case you failed to obey, go back to the love of Christ that was illustrated for you 2000 years ago and see that his grace is always available. It means, if a sinner like us was given a chance to choose eternal life or death — salvation that we don’t deserve then what more the change we want for ourselves and God wants for us.

God is far more concern with our internal transformation than our outward transformation. We must Know that His grace is sufficient for you and it is far better for God’s will to be done than ours. The God who delivers you and sustains you everyday, will be the same God who will be with you this year and to another years that will come. Keep the faith, nothing is impossible to God.

” Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. ”

” Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful. ”

” Looking unto Jesus the author and perfector of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. ”

– Hebrews 4:16, 10:22-23, 12:2

A letter for the depressed

Depression is a real thing. Anyone can be a victim of it. And if there’s no one there to help you, it can lead even to death — suicide.

Nowadays our suicide rate in the Philippines is getting higher and most of these people who commit suicide were students. They were young millennials who could have done a lot of things in life. They were students who could have enjoyed and maximized their lives.

CNN Philippines stated that close to 800,000 people die due to suicide every year. For every suicide, there are many more people who attempt suicide every year. A prior suicide attempt is the most important risk factor for suicide in the general population, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) fact sheet, updated August 2017.

Sadly, in our country, we have this preconceived idea that depression is just a “kaartehan” and think that this is “very ka-dramahan lang.” Little did we know, these people are dying little by little. They have a lot of questions bothering them every second of their lives. And what is more painful is that these people who are suffering from depression do seem fine and happy on the outside. They would listen to people genuinely. At the same time, they feel that they are not heard. They think that no one wants to understand them. They are trapped in the belief that no one cares about them since no one ever asked them seriously if they are really okay.

Depressed people are not attention-seekers. Depression is real. It is even more tragic than a physical death. And whether you are Christian or not, you can be a victim of it. No one is exempted because we are just a human who have feelings and can experience difficulties in life.

But here’s the good news. We are victorious in God. The depression that we feel, the feeling of being alone, of being unheard, not understand. Jesus experienced all of these. So if you think that ending your life and isolating yourself is a solution, it’s not.

” In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace ” – Ephesians 1:7

Tell everything you want to God. Pour out and tell everything to God what you really feel. Because there might be no one to listen and to care for you, but He is listening and mindful of you. He is different from all the people who betrayed you, who hurt you, who just used you. He will be the only one who will remain.

“for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsakeyou.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

Choose those people that are ready to listen, people you know that won’t judge you, people who will lead you to God. They might be rare but they still exist. And you may find very few of them in your life. So, if you find them, treasure them and keep them.

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” -Proverbs 17:17

Fight the good fight of faith no matter what you are going through because one day the things you are struggling right now will just be memories of pain and victory. They will be your inspiring and beautiful testimony.

To the one who is reading this, if you think of ending your life, remember someone is there to listen. I’m here to listen. Don’t fight alone. Let the word of God dictate who you are. Let the word of God reign in your life.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ” – Ephesians 6:10,11

” To obey God until to the end of my life. “

Our nation is one of the most open minded person you will get to talk to when you talk about God. If you will preach the gospel to someone I’m sure they will definetely listen and accept the message. That’s how well known God to us.

And in the past several years of our entire life we always hear the same story in the bible again and again. In every Church mass, Christmas seasons preachings, or in Holy week, it came to the point that hearing it is just as a repeating music in our ears. The gospel was also become a over familiarity to us because it’s one of the most cliche story we memorize.

If you will think of it somehow it’s good and not good, because it becomes not right when we tend to forgot that there’s a meaning towards all God’s goodness in every bit by bit of His works and that’s what important than memorizing a story — It’s the thought that count.

I’m as well is guilty on that, Sometimes I also forget to medidate every single detail that God has been doing. And as I look back again to what God did for our nation just for us to become a Christian country, started from the time of Spaniards , Americans and all those circumstances that strengthen our faith in God, I can really say that our nation is so blessed! because God really did choose our people to know His love and to be the gospel bearer for His great commision to make him known here on earth.

The question is what are we doing now knowing that we are priviledged and free from the persecution? Many Christians oversees is experiencing hard persecution even to the point of death, many Christians risk their lives even if they will be sentence to death because of their conviction that Jesus is Lord, many was abandoned by their loved ones and friends because they choose to follow God.

What about us, including myself*? What are we doing? Jesus died on the cross for everyone to know that their is Perfect Father in heaven, who loves them and saved them from the result of the most historic and most greatest impacted deicision that Adam and Eve did.

Are we that willingly convince that we will choose to make Him known no matter what the cost? even it will takes our life, because we know that one day when we see them in heaven and it will be worth it, when we see them fight in their relationship with God you know someone’s life is being change by God.

Let’s decide every single day to Honor God and Make disciples up to the end of our lives, for God has set us free from the lies and gave us eternal life. Our life is worth spending with God’s plan for us.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

– Matthew 28:19-20

To all the fans I know.

We all have that artist that we are really into. He or she might be in an industry of music, acting or in any performing field. YES! they are really influential in our lives because they help us to dream big and to pursue what we love and what we enjoy.

One of the examples is KPOP. Its influence on millennial nowadays is really huge because of their talents and unique style of entertainment. Their nation as well is famous because of the beauty that really stands out around the world. That’s why many millennials are following them in every opportunity or access they can. And nowadays knowing the artist you want is easier because of the help of the social media.

To be honest, I have a lot of KPOP fan friend and they are one of the most talented people I know. And I understand and experience what they have been through because I, as well, had those artists, whom I support, who also influenced me. Whenever they will share with me their talents and skills in performing, it amazes me. I am glad to know that they had developed their skills and talents because of those people they are into.

But sometimes being over fanatic to an artist may also cause us to lose sight of our own uniqueness as an individual. We also become unconsciously blind to see that there is someone who can give everything to us because we are getting our satisfaction from the wrong source and wrong person.

So let me share with you some of the things that prove that Jesus is better than your/our bias, celebrity artist idol, actor/actress that we want.

They are just humans.
The same thing as you, they also fail. They might be perfect in screens, but in real life, they also experience the same struggle that you have been through. But to be real to you my Friends, they didn’t even know your personal life as you know His/her and they don’t feel what you feel. But Jesus experienced the life that we are living and He knows what we feel. He cares and knows everything about us from how we think and what makes us happy.

“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered” – Matthew 10:30

You can meet God everywhere.
To meet your idol/bias/celebrity/artist you need a good amount of money and a decent clothing — For sure you want to look good to him/her right? It’s a once in a lifetime experience you’ve been waiting for. But, it’s costly and sometimes you even need a passport to meet them. You don’t need to save a lot of money just to meet Jesus because He made Himself available for you. You don’t have to pay for a costly price. He already did that. He died— He literally died on the cross so that He could meet us and He is omnipresent. You can call to Him wherever you want, He is with you 24/7 of your entire life, He knows all your failures and down moments and He will not leave you nor forsake.

“The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18

True satisfaction can be found in Jesus.
Those temporary “Kilig” that your idol can give is nothing compared to the satisfaction that God can give. What our hearts need is Jesus, not any person or anyone in this world. We can be satisfied knowing that Jesus’ love is full of grace, gentleness, mercy.

“For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” -Psalm 107:9

Again it’s not bad to be a fan. But remember that above all, it is God who gives talents, future, true perspective and satisfaction in this life.

My last question is, who is the top and above all source of your talents, future, satisfaction, standard? Is it Jesus or your celebrity crush, bias, actress/actor that you want?

Feels like the first time

What is the best experience you will never forget? It may be an experience with a person whom you love or a moment you once had in your life.

It’s good to think of it, right? It’s like when you remember those things, you can always vividly recall what you’ve felt during that time. You can still picture out everything because that experience is so memorable to you.

But the question is, do we still remember the moment when we felt or realized how much God loves us? It’s amazing, right?

Do we still feel the same hunger in God’s words?

Do we still worship Him just like the first time we accepted Him?

Are we still desperate to be in His presence?

Do we still worship God even if we don’t feel anything?

Are we as desperate as we are before to run to Him when we only had little knowledge about Him?

Maybe this is the time we should check ourselves. My prayer is that we will worship God just like how we worship Him before — with an undivided heart, that we will desire Him like it’s the first time. I pray that the reason why we communicate to Him is that we really want to spend time with God because we love being in His presence just like a child who is eager to be with His father.

There’s nothing more wonderful than to go back again to our first love, our Father in heaven, and do things passionately for His glory and purpose. Remember that before you became God’s follower, you are His son/daughter first.

So praise God as if you first met Him. Just like those times when your heart is truly devoted to Him — those times when you worship Him radically and you don’t want to stop. Honor Him as if you find joy in His love alone, just like the moment when you declared that He is your Lord and committed your life to persevere in your faith until the end. I pray that you will once again realign your heart for what truly matters — your relationship to the God who set you free. Remember the time that you know you are secure in your Heavenly Father’s arm — that He is pleased to see you as His son/daughter who enjoys dwelling in His presence.

Let us choose to worship God just like the first time we met Him, for it is what He deserves. His message of love is always as new as your first encounter with Him and there are no greater things to be compared to that.

“I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better” – Philippians 1:23)

There’s something wrong in me!

In our generation when everything seems to be instant, we can say that getting what we want is easy. Just like if we want exposures, social media networks such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram are there to let the world see us. If we are hungry, we can get instant food by simply buying instant noodles, fast foods, and food at convenient stores. Even in our studies, instant answers can also be searched on Google.

But despite the fact that everything is available, instant, and easy in our generation, I know that you are still wondering about these questions: “Why is there still something wrong in me? Why do I feel empty? Why am I not contented? Why am I still not good enough when I already have a lot of things I want?”

When you feel like your life is just a complete routine starting from waking up in bed, going to school then coming back home, eating dinner, studying and doing homework, surfing the net, you still end up your day by sitting down for a while in your bed and pause, because you know that there is still something missing, there is something we cannot get in this world.

By thinking that, it’s frustrating and annoying not because we can’t accept the fact that it is true, but because it’s sad to know that on our own, we cannot solve the deepest need of our hearts. Even if we do everything to solve it, choosing the things that the world is offering to satisfy our unsatisfied life, we will still notice that our efforts are never enough. And what makes it more annoying is it’s just getting worse. We thought we will be happy, contented, and whole when we follow the ways of the world. But the harsh reality breaks our expectation. Suddenly, we realize little by little that the world where we are living is truly limited.

But you know what? I believe that there is a reason behind those “WHYs” — those questions that might appeared once or constantly in your mind which bothers you. Those questions that we know will remain unsolved by our reasonings.

As I look for an answer, I learned that we are limited and we need someone who can assure that there is hope in our limitedness — that their is already a solution and there is someone who can complete us. And as I look and search for an answers, everything just points me to Jesus — our only solution.

And for us to have Him, who is the greatest need of our life, we just need a one step humility and a sincere heart before God. A heart that acknowledges, puts trust, and is totally dependent only in Him.

In humility, we will experience contentment and satisfaction that reveals the real need of our hearts, that is to be with God and experience His presence.

When we experience His presence, we will not look for something else to satisfy us anymore, because our greatest questions in our lives are already answered. In Him, there is also acceptance and we can prove that because of what He had done for us on the cross. Despite our sins and our desire to look for wrong things in this world, He still chose to purchase us with His blood and gave us an everlasting life.

Again, being in God’s presence is a decision. If you want to be whole, fixed and live in truth, RUN to Jesus and believe that whatever we think we need is possible to those who depends, fears and has the humility before Him.

“Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” – James 4:9-10

“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.” – PSALMS 63:1-3
